Vanags means "hawk" in the Latvian language. That's why pictures of this bird are plastered everywhere. Some people say Latvian sounds a lot like English spoken backwards. It also happens to be one of the most useless languages in the world to be fluent in. Unless you live in Latvia, or are a member of our family.

The sculpture on the right is by an artist named Sean Guerrero, he makes these out of old car bumpers. This is a smaller piece of his. (But it still weighs nearly 50 pounds!) Sean usually sculpts full-sized megafauna like horses, elk, moose, deer, bears, and sasquatches. Also bizarre spacecraft, but that's a whole other story.
